Mentorship Program

Connecting One to One

Mentors are people who have been there. Families affected by Cystic Fibrosis correspond with mentors to discuss the challenges of CF.

Some areas that have been identified by our mentors to be of potential interest to others include teen issues, digestive care (G tubes), college, adult issues, and the newly diagnosed. All families with Cystic Fibrosis can participate.

Dr. Steven Boas and Deborah Cesarone, RN, CF Nurse Coordinator, attending the 2004 CF Awareness event.

PSYCHOLOGY SERVICES

A nine-year-old with behavioral issues interfering with adherence to the medical regimen of CF receives psychology services from expert clinical child psychologists specializing in chronic childhood illnesses that were otherwise not available.

NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTS

An eight-year-old with chronic malnutrition without the financial resources necessary to maintain his nutrition is able to receive a supply of necessary supplements.

MEDICATIONS

A parent of a 12-year-old loses medication insurance for several months prior to being able to change medical insurance is able to receive inhalational and pancreatic supplements to bridge the gap in insurance.

This program has only been in effect for six months. We are very proud of the effects of our Advisory Council to make this program possible!
