Dr. Steven Boas

Dr. Steven Boas, asthma, exercise and CF doctorBiographical Information

Dr. Boas, a Board-Certified Pediatric Pulmonologist, is dedicated to the care of children and adolescents with acute or chronic respiratory disorders. His areas of expertise include

  • Pediatric Asthma
  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • Exercise Related Disorders
  • Chronic Cough
  • Chest Wall Disorders

His practice actively participates in both independent and national clinical research involving the newest therapies available for children with asthma and cystic fibrosis. In addition, he has authored dozens of book chapters and articles in medical journals.

Dr. Boas is on medical staff at:

  • Children's Memorial Hospital (Chicago)
  • Edward Hospital (Naperville)
  • Evanston Northwestern Healthcare (Evanston, Illinois)
  • Northwest Community Hospital (Arlington Heights)
  • Northwestern University Memorial Hospital (Chicago)

He is also an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Northwestern University Medical School (Feinberg Medical School) and is a member of the Children's Community Physicians Association.

Locally, Dr. Boas has served as a member of the Children's Memorial Hospital Institutional Review Board (IRB) as well as the Chicago Thoracic Society and Chicago Asthma Consortium. Nationally, Dr. Boas serves on the Medical Board for the American Association of Respiratory Care, the Board of Directors of the North American Society of Pediatric Exercise Medicine, and the Executive Committee for the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Pediatric Pulmonology.

Having received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, Dr. Boas completed his pediatric internship at Boston City Hospital in Boston and his pediatric residency at Nassau County Medical Center in New York. Dr. Boas completed his subspecialty fellowship training in Pediatric Pulmonology at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Board certified in pediatrics and pediatric Pulmonology, he has received awards from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for his research with children with CF.
